Lenard D. Moore is the author, editor and co-editor of more than 20 books, including The Geography of Jazz, Long Rain, A Temple Looming, All The Songs We Sing, A Million Shadows At Noon, among others. His poems, short stories, essays, and reviews have been published in more than 500 publications. His poetry has appeared in more than 150 anthologies. His poetry has been translated into several languages.
He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the North Carolina Award for Literature, Margaret Walker Creative Writing Award, Haiku Museum of Tokyo Award (2003, 1994, and 1983), Sam Ragan Award, Raleigh Medal of the Arts Award, among others. He is the first African American President of the Haiku Society of America. He is a U.S. Army Veteran.
