CARRBORO, NC --The Carrboro Town Council will be on a summer hiatus with its next regularly scheduled meeting  set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2025. 

The Town Council meets at Carrboro Town Hall, 301 W. Main St. Members of the public are welcome to attend in person or can view the livestream www.YouTube.com/CarrboroNC  OR at https://carrboro.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx

The Carrboro Town Council met on Tuesday, June 17, and took actions on the agenda posted at https://carrboro.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx

  • Heard proclamations for Disability Pride Month,  Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community and Recreation & Parks Month. Find all proclamations at https://www.carrboronc.gov/2630/Proclamations-and-Resolutions
  • Approved street closing permit for the Fiestas en la Calle
  • Approved a contract with Landscaper, LLC for mowing along Highway NC-54 and Town Properties
  • Authorized a contract with GFL Environmental, Inc. for disposal of municipal solid waste
  • Awarded the 2025 Street Resurfacing contract to Daniels, Inc. of Garner
  • Authorized the Town Manager to enter into a Global Capital Agreement to continue to receive Orange County Transit Funds
  • Approved a contract amendment with Freese and Nichols Inc. for schedule extension for the Downtown Area Plan
  • Approved budget, grant and capital project ordinance amendments for Fiscal Year 24-25
  • Authorized the Town Manager to enter into a contract with Design-Build Firm for Town Hall renovation
  • Approved a resolution in support of a revised Safe Streets for All (SS4A) Demonstration Grant Application
  • Approved a minor modification request to the master sign plan for the 300 East Main Street Project Special Use Permit-A (SUP-A)
  • Set a public hearing for September 16, 2025 to consider text amendments to the Land Use Ordinance relating to the name, membership criteria and duties associated with certain advisory boards and commissions
  • Authorized the Town Manager to execute a contract amendment with the Town Engineer Sungate Design Group, for the provision of engineering services
  • Approved the Five-Year Orange county consolidated plan and FY 25-26 HOME annual Action Plan
  • Approved FY25-26 Human Services awards, $457,536 for 39 nonprofits
  • Increased funding for IFC emergency shelter services, $112,500
  • Approved funding for the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness, $148,234
  • Reviewed and approved the Condominium Agreement and Memorandum of Understand with Orange county for the Operation of the Drakeford Library complex
  • Renewed the contract for the Town's annual independent audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025
  • Adopted a resolution responding to and addressing internal control weaknesses identified in the financial reporting by the independent auditors
  • Held a Quasi-Judicial Public Hearing for and approved a Special Use Permit-A Application for a Three-Story Building at 400 N. Greensboro Street
  • Approved an amendment to the Town code to restrict on-street parking along Elm Street between West Weaver and Shelton streets only along the East side of the street 
  • Received an update on  the Capacity Analysis for Reimagining Weaver Street
